Gooey cake recipe

The yummy Swedish Kladdkaka


1/3 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 teaspoon salt


  1. Preheat oven to 392 degrees F / 200 degrees C (do not use fan-assist!).
  2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan, then remove from heat.
  3. Whisk sugar and eggs (use an electric mixer) in a bowl for a few min.
  4. Combine flour, cacao powder, vanilla extract and salt in another bowl.
  5. Stir into the whisked eggs together with the melted butter and mix well.
  6. Lubricate a baking dish with butter and sprincle it with crumbs (use a baking dish with a size about 8½ inches and preferably with a removable bottom).
  7. Spread batter into prepared baking dish.
  8. Bake in preheated oven for 17 to 18 minutes (do not overcook!).
